Star Crossed Voyagers
Rose Taylor
I sit alone and stare at the Earth rising.
I stand alone and watch as your stars come out.
You wanted safety, this world we know
You always needed wilderness, the wide worlds,
I know you're safe, staying where you should be
so you're happy where you've gone, somewhere in the stars.
My farewell was easy - I'd everything to see
My grief was mute - I'd everything to lose
but I might have gone back if you'd ever called.
and I'd have gone with you - did you ever guess?
Though I leave the summer breeze, the sun, the air
Though you took my strength and heart, my sun, my air,
and dream of our kiss below this black sky;
I dream of you being in my brick built room.
if you could watch the solar winds and scarlet grass,
If you could stand with me, sorrowing, you'd see
you'd see it's everything I've always wanted.
how this is everything I've always dreaded.
I love you there - you'll call me home to Earth,
I love you there - you'll take my heart to the stars
and although I love you, I would never change this.
and because I do love you, I'd change all this.
