From the Editor's Desk
Dear Reader,
Welcome to a new decade. Yes, some of the centennial sticklers will try to tell you it’s NOT a new decade, just like the year 2000 was NOT a new century. But just ask them, was y2k part of the ‘90s? Was it 1990… uh … ten? No. So it’s a new decade. And welcome to it. For my New Year’s resolutions I was going to try to avoid digressions, repetition and editorial clichés (like New Year’s Resolutions). And all in my first paragraph of the New Year, I’ve gone and broken all of them. So much for that, then.
I would, however, like to tell you about some exciting developments in the Digital Dragon universe. First, friends and fans will note that we’ve been talking about changes to DDM. Well, they’re coming. A little slower, perhaps, than we anticipated, but they’re coming. First of all, we’ll be swapping servers very soon, complete with a newly designed website with easier navigation, more features, and more. We’re also changing the way we archive. Beginning on January 15, Digital Dragon Magazine will now be available as a .pdf download, absolutely free, just as our material always has been. For those who don’t wish to download the entire ‘zine though, you needn’t worry: our stories will still be available as pages on the site itself, just as they are now.
NowI’m also very excited to share a couple new ventures with you. T.W. Ambrose and I have decided to form a media group, with DDM as our flagship publication. The new organization, Diminished Media Group, will produce work in multiple mediums, beginning with a second web-based publication. This new website, titled “A Flame In The Dark,” is dedicated to thriller, horror and dark fantasy fiction, with the aim of introducing the Light of Christ in these darker realms of fiction. The new official site for this venture has not yet been created, but we sincerely hope you’ll join us as the “Flame in the Dark” forum, where we’ll begin building the community which will be the backbone to this new venture. We’ll have more details on it at the forum itself.
Finally, the contents of this month’s issue. We’ve got a couple great short stories for your enjoyment, along with Part VI of Becky Minor’s wonderful “Wind Rider” series and a new short serial beginning this month by DDM regular Melanie A. Billings. This month’s feature is a little different as well: we’ll be featuring an unpublished story by Digital Dragon founder T.W. Ambrose!
I sincerely hope you enjoy this month’s issue, and the upgrades we’ll be putting together in the next few months. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for sticking with us in our first year, and we hope to see you around these parts as 2010 progresses! God Bless You all!
