From the Editor's Desk
Dear Readers,
I must say, after a month of difficulties, I am beyond pleased to bring Digital Dragon Magazine Issue 3. In a month that has seen me through a move, and a complete lack of internet at my new home, there were times I was concerned if we’d make it. But when I started this undertaking, one thing I wanted to be was committed -- and with the help of some great writers, and a staff as committed as I am, we are here, on time, to bring you the great family friendly science fiction and fantasy you have come to expect from DDM.
One very exciting thing about this issue is each of our writers this month will be appearing in the Dragon for the first time. We will be offering up a full assortment of classic fantasy, modern fantasy, space opera, and sci-fi. Our writers also run the spectrum from first time published to long time novelists. And we are also very pleased to be bringing you an original short by Mike Lynch as August’s featured story. Mike is the co-author of the recently reviewed Sky Chronicles When the Sky Fell. I hope you all enjoy his piece A Small Sacrifice as much as we have.
Now, a message to all of you aspiring writers out there: I would like to encourage you to start looking ahead to some of the special issues we have coming up over the next few months. September will be our long awaited back-to-school issue. Just kidding, but September will continue with the great family friendly fiction you know and love with many new and familiar faces.
October however will have a little different look to it; as we will feature dark family friendly fantasy and sci-fi. Now I have had a couple people ask me if one could have a family friendly dark anything? And I believe the answer is yes. Just open up a Frank Peretti, or a Ted Decker novel and you’ll see what I mean. The other question that has been asked is if we are promoting Halloween? No we are not, I believe the celebration of Halloween is a decision each family must make for itself. We are taking advantage of a month where people are looking for scary stories to bring new readers to read your work in our magazine.
After that, for the month of November, we would like to offer you the chance to become our featured writer for the month. We are looking for the best 1-3 Thanksgiving themed stories to feature in Issue 6. They will be chosen by our editorial staff and featured the whole month in DDM. We are looking for anything from alternative histories, future thanksgiving’s, or even thanksgivings in other worlds. Just send us something well written, fun, and family friendly and we will be looking forward to reading them.
First and foremost though, it’s time now to find a comfortable chair, sit back and enjoy some great stories.
I wish you good reading,
T.W. Ambrose
